Directed energy
Veterans may be concerned about reports that directed energy (DE) may have been used in ways that might harm people intentionally. DE refers to electromagnetic energy sources, such as microwaves, radiofrequency, lasers, and sound energy. A DE weapon uses concentrated DE energy sources to damage equipment or facilities, or to harm people. VA is beginning to learn about DE and its health effects and will update findings on the directed energy web page as new information comes available.
