Evidence-Based Guidelines
Clinical practice guidelines are used in health care to improve patient care and reduce inappropriate variations in care. They are evidence-base, include patient input, and use clear criteria for validity. Each guideline reflects the best available evidence at publication and notes the level of supporting evidence. CPGs are available on a variety of topics including, but not limited to:

Education and Training for Health Care Professionals
VA’s Exposure-Informed Care Initiative offers a dedicated landing page for health care professionals with tools and education to enhance Veteran care. Explore resources organized by time commitment—5, 15, 30, and 60 minutes—including the Military Environmental Exposures- Pocket Card for Healthcare Professionals and the Deployment Related Respiratory Disease Toolkit for Providers, and more.
- Level 1 and Level 2 Military Environmental Exposures Certifications
Developed in partnership with the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM), health care professionals can earn Level 1 (introductory) and Level 2 (advanced) certifications in Military Environmental Exposures. - Healthcare Professional Education
Comprehensive curriculum developed to help health care professionals understand Veterans’ unique health concerns related to military and deployment exposures. Access best practice training on key exposure topics and clinical deployment health issues. - Exposure Ed App
A VA- developed tool that helps providers access information on military-related exposures by date, location, and conflict. It also includes links to resources, supports providers discuss potential health impacts with Veterans, and connects them to VA programs and benefits. This resource is for educational purposes only and is not intended for diagnostic purposes.

Below are available VA resources to support Veterans with military environmental exposure concerns:
- The Toxic Exposure Screening Navigator at their local VA facility:
- All Veterans enrolled in VA health care can receive a toxic exposure screening at an upcoming appointment or sooner by contacting a toxic exposure screening navigator at their local VA facility.
- Talk with their VA health care team:

- Send a secure message to your clinical care team through your patient portal: MyHealtheVet at: or My VA Health at: patientportal.myhealth.va.gov (or using the VA app)
- Veterans may contact Environmental Health Coordinators about registry evaluations or health concerns related to military exposures.
- Veterans Exposure Team-Health Outcome Military Exposures (VET-HOME):
- VET-HOME is VA's national hub serving Veterans with military environmental exposures. Any Veteran enrolled in VA health care can contact VET-HOME for a free Military Environmental Exposures Assessment via telehealth. Call 833-633-8846.

- War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC)
