Allergic Rhinitis and findings from Burn Pit Registry participants Among participants in VA’s Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry, allergic rhinitis (hay fever or allergies) are the third most commonly reported health condition of Veterans who served in Southwest Asia.
Have you heard of Exposure Ed? VA’s mobile app, Exposure Ed, helps health care providers better address Veterans’ questions about the health effects of military exposures and exposure-related benefits and services. The app is free and available to the public so that Veterans and their family members can access it as well.

Spotlight on an Environmental Health Clinician: Kenya Singleton, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC VA nurse practitioner Kenya Singleton spoke about her role as a Lead Environmental Health Clinician for VISN 22 and how her clinic has evolved to care for Veterans in recent times.
VA’s WRIISC offers expertise in airborne hazards VA’s War Related Illness and Injury Study Center in East Orange, NJ, is conducting several initiatives as a part of its effort to understand the health effects of airborne hazards and provide care for Veterans.
VA’s Environmental Health Registries VA offers six no-cost Environmental Health Registries. These registries provide voluntary medical assessments for Veterans who may have been exposed to certain environmental hazards during military service.
National Academies publishes a report on respiratory health effects of airborne hazards The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine published the report The Respiratory Health Effects of Airborne Hazards Exposures in the Southwest Asia Theater of Military Operations on September 11, 2020.
