At VA's request, the Department of Defense (DoD) developed fact sheets for each test, which include information on the test dates, location, agent/stimulant used and whether DoD has provided VA the roster of personnel involved.

 

Health and Medicine Division Reports

At VA’s request, the the Health and Medicine Division (HMD) (formally known as the Institute of Medicine) of the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, conducted a study on potential health effects of participation in Project SHAD. Read the 2007 report, Long-Term Health Effects of Participation in Project SHAD. A follow-up study was also conducted. Read the 2016 report, Assessing Health Outcomes Among Veterans of Project SHAD (Shipboard Hazard and Defense).
