Traumatic Brain Injury Veterans Health Registry
The VA Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Veterans Health Registry contains information about Veterans who served in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), or Operation New Dawn (OND); showed symptoms associated with TBI; and sought care or benefits from VA.
Veterans in the registry meet any one or a combination of these conditions:
- Screened positive on the VA TBI Screen that is administered when a Veteran seeks VA health care
- Had a TBI related diagnostic code in their electronic medical record
- Applied for benefits for TBI as shown in the VA disability benefit file
The construction of the registry and its maintenance is mandated by Congress.
